Take it to the Hair: 2016 Trend Predictions

2016 is all about the hair, from straight to curly to textured and smoothed, we can’t get enough of our style statement hair. James Taylor, Colour Director at Barrie Stephen Hair has shared his top trend as we head into 2016.

The one style for 2016: The perm is back! We will see a lot more soft, yet controlled textures in hair throughout 2016, with clients opting for permanent waving or texture enhancing services. This is a trend for both the ladies and gents wanting to embrace texture that works on all lengths of hair with different degrees of curl.

Catwalk inspired trends for 2016: The most popular hair trend straight off the catwalks is the natural look, but that doesn’t mean leaving it to style itself! Hair needs to be well maintained and controlled, so a good selection of styling products is key for this trend, as a well-suited, professional homecare programme. In the same way that the barely-there make-up look actually takes time to create, the same goes for hair; it’s hard to style your hair to make it look like it hasn’t been done. This is where curling tongs or wands will become your best friend and flat irons can go into hibernation.

New Cutting Techniques: The latest in cutting techniques is invisible layering, which offers just that! This is a big step forward from the standard layering we are used to seeing, hair will feel lighter but creates movement and texture without the hair becoming choppy. This new trend works on the majority of hair types.

Breakthrough Ingredients: Schwarzkopf Professional Fibreplex – This colour additive protects against colour damage and is used in combination with any chemical service or treatment in-salon. Fibreplex minimises hair breakage during lightening, lifting and colouring, resulting in great hair structure, stabilised hair fibres and a smooth and shiny surface. This high performing fibre bond technology allows us colourists to push boundaries like never before…so go on, be a shade braver!
