5 Reasons to look forward to Spring
When it comes to the year’s seasons, winter and summer tend to hold court. As soon as the celsius temperature starts to shift towards double digits, we each start planning our summer holidays and debating how soon is too soon to be storing ice cream in the freezer. Though, while I’m all for premature ice cream indulging, I can’t help but feel as though we’re not giving spring the attention it deserves! So, with the new astronomical season beginning on March 20th, it’s time to throw some love about with five reasons to look forward to spring:
Longer Days - The likelihood of returning home during daylight hours increases, seeing the chance of waging war against winter’s never-ending darkness decrease. It’s a win-win!
Wardrobe Options - Floral prints may not be revolutionary, but there’s something very satisfying about packing away the insulated jackets in favour of colourful-printed cardigans and sherbet shades. Right
Hello Nature! - Daffodils, Magnolias, Hyacinths; the whole (colourful) family of flowers are showing their heads. This combined with birds tweeting their high-pitched songs and it’s easy to feel at this time of year as though you’ve stepped into a Disney film.
Warmer weather - I can’t be the only one tired of greeting people with an expression of disbelief at how cold the weather is? I’m more than ready for warm air flowing through opened windows and sunshine fuelled walks.
Social Life - Suddenly, leaving the comfort of your heated blanket and sharing-size bag of chocolate seems feasible. Just about. So, yes to drinks on a lakeside patio, yes to jogging/cycling with friends and yes to seeing that play you weren’t convinced would be better than a night on the sofa.
As you can see, there’s more to love about Spring than the chocolate eggs Easter brings about. Though, there’s nothing to say you can’t do all of the above with a salted caramel chocolate egg in hand! Well, except for cycling…
